This renovation transformed a quirky 2-bedroom, 1-bath layout into a more functional and connected 2-bedroom, 2-bath home. Every living and sleeping space now opens directly to the outdoors, embracing the home's sunny corner lot just two blocks from the beach.

The living, dining, and entertaining areas were reoriented along the south façade to extend into the central courtyard, creating a fluid transition between inside and out. A louvered system and Dutch door open to invite the ocean breeze through the space, while offering opportunities to connect with neighbors passing by.

Passive House design strategies anchor the home's performance: radiant floor heating, an energy recovery ventilator (ERV), an unvented roof assembly, and durable cement board siding work together to create a well-insulated, low-maintenance envelope, designed for comfort, air quality, and resilience in a coastal environment.
